Göran Carlsson – new board member of GreenIron

January 17, 2022

The new year starts in a great way! Göran Carlsson has recently been appointed as FAM’s representative on GreenIron´s board. We are convinced that Göran’s solid, industrial experience in metallurgy will greatly contribute to the development of GreenIron’s operations.

In his own words, Göran describes his background as follows:

“Blast furnaces have always been close to my heart. As a young research engineer, I participated in a number of projects around iron ore reduction and process optimization. And for a few years in the 90´s I was head of raw steel production at SSAB Tunnplåt in Luleå, with a focus on production, maintenance and development at the two blast furnaces. It feels very satisfactory and stimulating to now have an active role in the journey towards fossil-free production of iron, steel and non-ferrous metals, with GreenIron’s energy-efficient, hydrogen-based reduction method. It also feels extremely important and engaging to be able to contribute with my knowledge and experience, when it comes to enhanced resource use and circular solutions of waste and residual products from the steel industry”.

Here´s an excerpt from Göran’s voluminous CV: Mining degree from the Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm). Today, Chairman of the Board of Partnerinvest Övre Norrland, IUC Norr and Future Eco and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Former CEO of MEFOS and Swerea, SSAB Tunnplåt and head of SSAB’s production of raw steel in Luleå. In addition, he has been an adjunct professor of metallurgy at Luleå University of Technology.

Welcome Göran!
