GreenIron Renewed with Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label

GreenIron has once again been awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label, an internationally recognised distinction for solutions that combine environmental benefits with economic viability.
“We are proud to once again receive the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label. It is an important recognition of both our technology and our business model, demonstrating that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand,” says Mathias Tillman, CEO of GreenIron.
The label, established by the Solar Impulse Foundation and its founder Bertrand Piccard, is granted following an independent assessment by external experts covering three key criteria: technical and commercial feasibility, environmental impact, and customer economic value.
The renewed label reflects GreenIron’s continued progress in developing and commercialising its patented hydrogen-based reduction process to produce fossil-free metals, which enables the recovery of valuable metals from steel industry residuals while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions compared to conventional fossil-based processes.
As part of the assessment, independent experts highlighted GreenIron’s proven technology, strong environmental benefits, commercially attractive business model and high level of maturity. The evaluation also recognised the successful development of GreenIron’s first commercial-scale facility in Sandviken, Sweden, and the company’s ability to transform industrial by-products into valuable fossil-free metal feedstock.
