GreenIron Wins First-Ever Pioneer Prize

We are proud to announce that GreenIron has been awarded the inaugural Pioneer Prize, unveiled today at Expo 2025 in Osaka during Sweden’s official National Day celebrations. This prestigious recognition honours our hydrogen-based technology and our ongoing commitment to enabling a fossil-free future. The award was presented by Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Trade and International Development Cooperation, Benjamin Dousa, during a high-level event attended by H.M. The King of Sweden and a broad Swedish business delegation organised by Business Sweden.
“We are incredibly honoured to receive the Pioneer Prize. This recognition validates our mission to decarbonise the metal industry with scalable, circular and commercially viable solutions,” said Edward Murray, co-founder of GreenIron.
About the Pioneer Prize
The Pioneer Prize – the Beauty of Swedish Innovation is a new innovation award initiated by the Swedish Institute, in collaboration with Business Sweden, to spotlight groundbreaking Swedish companies contributing to the green transition. The award focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises that offer scalable, high-impact solutions across sectors such as energy, transport, industry, life sciences, and tech.
GreenIron was one of eight nominated companies selected from Business Sweden’s Catalyst programme, which supports Sweden’s most promising scale-ups in accelerating international growth.
“The nominated companies address real-world challenges—from decarbonising heavy industry to transforming healthcare. With this award, we aim to support internationalisation and demonstrate that Sweden is home to solutions driving the green and digital transitions,” said Madeleine Sjöstedt, Director General of the Swedish Institute.
A Global Platform for Green Innovation
The winner was selected through public voting and a jury of international investors and industry experts. As part of the prize, GreenIron will now have the opportunity to present its innovation to international stakeholders during the Business Summit in Osaka, gaining increased visibility in markets such as Japan, the UK, the US, and Canada. We extend our congratulations to all fellow nominees and thank the Swedish Institute, Business Sweden, and the international community for recognising the potential of our work. This is just the beginning—together, we pioneer the possible.
