AISTech 2024: Fostering Innovation and Sustainability in the Iron and Steel Industry

This week (6-9th of May), industry leaders and experts converged in Columbus, Ohio, USA, for the annual AISTech – The Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition. Global participants from both Europe, USA, Canada, Brazil among others contributed to collaborative knowledge exchange with hundreds of lectures covering diverse topics. One prominent topic that resonated throughout the conference was the role of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in iron and steel production and the pursuit of sustainable practices.

GreenIron’s CEO Edward Murray delivered a presentation on circularity. Titled “Basic Oxygen Furnace/Electric Arc Furnace dust turned into recycled and valuable quality material – ready to be used again”, Murray’s talk highlighted GreenIron’s approaches to reuse waste materials and promoting resource efficiency. The presentation, drawing approximately 100 participants posed insightful questions, ranging from inquiries about the separation of iron and zinc to plans for how to expand the GreenIron furnace capacity. Detailed discussions delved into the nuances of pellet size and other technical aspects.
