GreenIron in new EU project – Creating value from waste in the steelmaking industry: The ZHyRON project

The ZHyRON project has been launched to pioneer a new process for recycling steelmaking by-products based on the use of green hydrogen. The new EU funded project, called ZHyRON, aims to pioneer a valorisation pathway for steel-making by-products rich in iron and zinc, with the goal of enhancing the sustainability and circularity of the steel industry.

It kicked off on 23 January in Zaragoza (Spain) with its team of nine companies and institutions from six European countries.

“The aim of the ZHyRON project is to transform the current linear steelmaking process into a circular and sustainable flow of resources”, says ” Maciej Kaplan from GreenIron.
